Danilo Suarez: Proposed 1,200MW power plant in Atimonan to address power shortage

Sep 29, 2018 @ 16:43

Quezon 3rd District Representative Danilo Suarez said the 1,200-megawatt capacity power plant to built in Atimonan will help address the country’s power supply problem.

But the Quezon politiko lamented that the proposed power plant has not yet been implemented.

“One promising infrastructure project is the 258USD power plant with 1,200-megawatt capacity to be built in Atimonan, Quezon. To our knowledge, this project has complied with all the legal and administrative requirements,” Suarez said.

“The Energy Regulatory Commission has yet to issue a Notice to Proceed, as there are pending protests,” he added.

But Suarez said once the project is implemented, the benefits will be enormous.

“Increasing power supply would decrease the cost of electricity to the benefit of the consuming public. The cost efficiency spreads across the board, covering ordinary Filipinos, small- to large-scale businesses, and the government. This benefit is undeniable,” he said.
