Calamba’s first lady Laverne Chipeco is a poster girl for body positivity.
When she was a student in Miriam College in 2011, Lav joined a beauty contest despite describing herself as “chubby” at that time.
In an Instagram post, she shared that she had been a last-minute beauty contestant and only joined the contest so that the Entrepreneurship Department would have a representative.
She shared photos from the contest, including one where she showed her flexibility as she did a split.
She said she never thought she’d win as the First Binibining Katipunera of Miriam College, because she was chubby compared to the other girls.
But her beauty and wit apparently still stood out, because she emerged victorious despite being “the fattest of them all.”
True beauty always wins out!
“Circa 2011: Realized that women who are CHUBBY can be WITTY. Won the title as the First Binibining Katipunera of Miriam College. I joined this pageant last minute to atleast have a representative from the Entrepreneurship Department. I NEVER thought I’d win because I’m the fattest of them all ? #TuesdayThoughtDay,” she posted.
