Erin Tañada urges Senate to pass SOGIE bill
Former Quezon 4th District representative Erin Tañada called on the Senate to pass the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Equality bill.
The SOGIE bill is still pending at second reading in the Senate.
The Quezon politiko was co-author of the counterpart bill in the House of Represenatives in the 15th Congress.
“The issue of discrimination should not be a matter of debate. It’s time to enact the SOGIE Equality Bill,” Tañada said.
“When I was Congressman, I was asked if I was okay with having a gay staff member. I simply replied, ‘As long as he can do the job’,” he said.
