Erin Tañada: Danilo Suarez’s as House Minority Leader to ‘continue mutual admiration club’
Former Quezon 4th District representative Erin Tañada said the retention of Quezon 3rd District Representative Danilo Suarez as House Minority Leader means the House will “continue to have a mutual admiration club.”
The Quezon politiko lamented how the House will again be seen as “subservient” of the Duterte administration.
“With Rep. Danilo Suarez’s tight grip on the post of Minority Leader, the entire House of Representatives is tarnished anew with the image of being fake, subservient, and uncritical,” Tañada said.
“Instead of a vibrant and deliberative chamber, we will continue to have a mutual admiration club,” he added.
But Tañada said that he is confident that the “real opposition bloc” led by the Liberal Party-Makabayan bloc alliance will remain true to the function of the minority.
