Duque, JICA leads groundbreaking of drug rehab center in Trece Martires
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, together with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led the groundbreaking of a 5-hectare drug rehabilitation facility in Trece Martires City on July 19.
The facility is funded by Japan under the 1.85-billion yen “Programme for Consolidated Rehabilitation of Illegal Drug Users (CARE) Project.”
The CARE Project aims to “provide the fiscal support required for the establishment of treatment and rehabilitation facilities, the improvement of rehabilitation programs and other initiatives for illegal drug users, thereby strengthening the medical treatment system and medical policies for illegal drug users overseen by the Department of Health of the Philippines and mitigating the illegal drug problem in terms of medical care.”
The rehabilitation facility is expected to boost the Duterte administration’s anti-illegal drug campaign.
It is expected to open in 2020.
