No need for Japan! Bougainvillea just as pretty as cherry blossoms, says Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula

Apr 2, 2018 @ 13:27

If you want to post a selfie with a lot of delicate, pink flowers around you, there’s no need to go to Japan or Korea for cherry blossoms.

The vidid pink bougainvillea that grow abundantly in the Philippines are just as beautiful, according to Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula.

On Facebook, Gacula said that Filipinos just need to cultivate and plant bougainvillea along the country’s major roads and parks, and they would surely be a captivating sight that would attract visitors and tourists when they are in full bloom.

The mayor is actually taking the initiative and has directed the Taytay Agriculture Department to plant bougainvillea along its highways.

Non-government organizations are welcome to do the same as well, he added.

No need for a visa to view the beautiful bougainvillea!

“Halos kasing ganda ng Philippine bougainvillea ang Japanese Cherry blossoms. We just need to cultivate and plant it along out major thoroughfares and parks and a little media hype like what they do to promote cherry blossoms in Japan. It can also be a tourist attraction during summer when they are in full bloom. I have instructed our Taytay Agriculture Department to plant this along our highways. I am calling on NGO’s to help in this beautification drive,” he posted.
