Giant win! Angono mayor rejoices over Galing Pook Award
Angono Mayor Gerry Calderon is overjoyed over his town’s win in the recent Galing Pook Awards.
Angono was cited for Participatory and Systemic Governance for Socio-economic Development.
In a video on Angono’s Facebook page, Calderon explained how the town’s program to relocate informal settlers and revive and improve the collection rate for the public market helped it win recognition.
The town was able to relocate some 11,000 informal settlers, helping them to start life anew. It also transformed its public market to make it more viable.
Calderon thanked the people of Angono and other local officials for helping secure the Galing Pook award for the town, its second.
