Tan approves substitute bill for mental health
Quezon 4th District Representative Angelina Tan, as chairperson of the House committee on health, has approved a substitute bill seeking to enhance mental health services in the Philippines.
The proposed measure or the “Comprehensive Mental Health Act,” aims to provide access to an integrated, well-planned, effectively organized, and efficiently delivered mental health care system that responds to the people’s mental health needs.
It also seeks to protect people utilizing psychiatric, neurological and psychosocial health services.
The bill also looks to integrate mental health care in the general health delivery system.
It also aims to introduce the study of mental health in both elementary and secondary educational systems to prevent depression, obesity, and teenage pregnancy.#
