Mayor Ynares: Bid for Senate site is like Pacquiao vs Horn
Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares has compared the city government’s bid to be the new site for the Senate to Senator Manny Pacquiao fighting against Jeff Horn in Australia.
The Antipolo politiko said the city government is facing unfavorable odds against Taguig City which is also bidding to be the new site of the Senate.
The Senate is looking to move to another site because of the huge P119 million annual rent it pays for the use of the GSIS Building in Roxas Boulevard.
“If Pacquiao was fighting in Australia against an Australian, then in our case there are senators from Taguig, but no senators from Antipolo. Most of the senators also have their homes near Taguig,” said Ynares.
But Ynares said relocating to Antipolo City is the better than in Bonifacio Global City.
Ynares earlier offered to give the Senate a 25-hectare lot in Antipolo for free where it can build its new building.
