Aragones’s House panel OKs National ID bill

The House Committee on Population and Family Relations chaired by Laguna Rep. Sol Aragones approved on Wednesday (May 10) the proposed Filipino Identification System Act (FilSys).
The measure will allow Filipinos to present just one identification card to transact with government agencies and other commercial establishments, thereby cutting red tape.
Under the FilSys, every Filipino citizen upon turning 18 will be required to register with FilSys. They will then be issued a non-transferable Filipino ID Card (Fil ID).
The Fil ID card will serve as the official government-issued ID in dealing with government agencies.
