Priest heading project for homeless in Rizal
Homeless people in a coastal town in Rizal province may benefit from a project that will provide them not only housing but also with livelihood.
The project is headed by Fr. Dari Dioquino, assistant priest at Immaculate Concepcion parish in Marikina City, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines said.
On its news site, the CBCP said Dioquino is raising funds to acquire a seven-hectare land in Jala-Jala town.
So far, P100,000 has been raised so far to purchase the land, while more funds are needed to finance the construction of community structures.
Part of the seven-hectare lot will be developed into a farm where residents can grow crops.
Also, Dioquino said the homeless will be rehabilitated and taught farming knowledge and skills.
On the other hand, he said the community can potentially become an ecotourism destination.
