Will Rudy Fariñas be the next majority leader? Fellow politikos think so
The politiko even posed with outgoing Majority Leader Boyet Gonzales. Is this a sign?
The 16th Congress officially closed on Monday, June 6, with politikos scrambling to say their goodbyes to colleagues who won’t return for a fresh term by July. Among them is Gonzales, who will be replaced by his wife Queenie as he maxes out three terms in office.
Ilocos Norte Rep. Rudy Fariñas had his photo taken with Gonzales on the last session day, noting their fantastic work together in steering plenary sessions and work at the Commission on Appointments.
However, their fellow congressmen think this photo is a sign, with both Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo and ex-Cebu Rep. Rachel Del Mar saying Fariñas is well on his way to be the majority leader under the 17th Congress at the comments section.
Fariñas recently jumped ship along with other politikos to join president-elect Rodrigo Duterte under PDP-Laban, and word is abuzz that he will be chosen as majority leader — the top two post at the House of Representatives — by no less than presumptive Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
