Ex-village leader shot to death
A former village chairman was gunned down and killed at the Binmaley Sports Complex in Barangay Gayaman, Pangasinan on Monday afternoon.
Supt. Monalisa Asis, chief of police, identified the victim as Clyde Benabese, sports complex administrator and a resident of Pangapisan Sur, Lingayen.
The former politiko reportedly sustained a high-caliber bullet wound in the back. He expired while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Three more persons were wounded during the attack, said a Tempo report on Wednesday, February 3. They were identified as Lenbert Manuel, Ben Zabala, and Edtardy Manaois.
According to the report, Benabese was inside the sports complex when a gunman approached him and suddenly opened fire.
The gunman, who has yet to be identified, then boarded a black Honda TMX motorcycle and sped off along with its driver.
Police later recovered 13 empty shells of a .45 pistol from the scene. (Randy K. Ortega)
