‘Ano ba ‘yan?!’ Imee Marcos hits PNoy for delay in SSS pension hike

Dec 19, 2015 @ 15:18

What’s holding up President Aquino from signing into law the approved measure increasing by P2,000 the monthly pension of Social Security System (SSS) retirees?

This was raised by Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, who bewailed the seeming delay in the final approval of the pension increase.

“Ano ba ‘yan? Marcos wrote in her column “Buking” in Bulgar.

The governor noted that senior citizens and their families have long been waiting for the pension increase to help them sustain their daily needs and medical expenses.

She said the SSS retirees were hoping it would be approved by Aquino and implemented in soonest possible time.

She pointed out that the law had been transmitted to Malacañang last week after being passed by both houses of Congress.

For the pensioners, the P2,000 increase would be a good Christmas gift from the President, according to Marcos.

Compared to the hefty bonuses of government officials, Marcos said the P2,000 increase is just a very small amount.
