Vice guv Leviste, 3 solons to fight over Vi’s post

Oct 16, 2015 @ 4:27

Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste’s bid to succeed his close friend, Governor Vilma Santos, will not be a walk in the park as three incumbent lawmakers have set their eyes on the top elective post in the province.

Set to run for governor in Batangas are Reps. Nicanor Briones from AGAP party-list, and Mark Llandro Mendoza and Hermilando Mandanas, who are on their last terms as district congressmen.

Santos, meanwhile, will aspire to become the first congressional representative of the new Lipa City district. She will be running against National Unity Party (NUP) member Bernadette Sabili, wife of incumbent Lipa City Mayor Meynard Sabili.

Despite receiving offers to run for higher office, the Star for All Seasons said she wants to stay in local politics and continue serving Batangueños.

Meanwhile, her husband, Senator Ralph Recto, will be running for reelection under the Liberal Party.
