“Sana wala,” Pampanga mayor says about possible opponents

San Luis, Pampanga Mayor “Asiong” Venancio Sagum Macapagal is fervently hoping he will run unopposed in the 2016 elections.

Now about to finish his second term, Macapagal confirmed he, Vice Mayor Leonardo Salas and seven of the eight councilors under the local Kambilan party of Governor Lilia Pineda will seek reelection next year.

“Wala pa namang nagpaparamdam. Sana wala,” Macapagal said in an article in Sunstar, adding he has not yet received any information who will challenge him.

The incumbent mayor of the third-class municipality said that he and other local officials wish to continue serving the people of San Luis town.

In 2013, Macapagal garnered 13,770 votes against his rival Rey Santos of the Liberal Party, who got 11,040 votes.

His running mate, Salas, got 13,333 votes against the 10,432 votes of LP’s bet Erwin Clarin.

The Kambilan party also took seven of the eight seats in the municipal council.
