Yeng Guiao gives PNoy good grade in last SONA

Jul 30, 2015 @ 1:06

Basketball coach-turned-politician Joseller “Yeng” Guiao gave President Aquino a grade of 90 percent for his last State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The representative of the 1st District of Pampanga and head coach of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the PBA said the President covered most of his accomplishments in the last five years but that the “remaining 10 percent” are for the “things” he needs to do before he steps down on June 2016.

We can really say that there are many sectors which have improved like the economy, education, employment and health. I believe he did his best,” Guiao said in a radio interview at DwRW 95.1 FM.

Guiao, however, pointed out that he had hoped to hear from the President more concrete statements about the status of Clark International Airport into being declared an international gateway.

The lawmaker has since been pushing for the development of Clark.

“We wanted to hear about the status of Clark International Airport and what he has to say about it.

Still, he said he is proud Aquino recognized Pampanga in his SONA as having one of the best healthcare programs in the country.

The son of former Pampanga Governor Bren Z. Guiao, Guiao started out his political career in Pampanga as board member in 2001.

In 2004, he was elected vice governor and completed his three terms before running for congressman in 2013.

In the PBA, he won six championships since becoming a head coach in 1990 and two PBA Coach of the Year awards.
