Billionaire places bets in Bayambang town elections. Find out why
Stradcom Chairman Ceasar T. Quiambao recently attended an assembly of local leaders in Bayambang, Pangasinan to endorse the tandem of incumbent Vice Mayor Melvyn Junio and councilor Levin Uy for mayor and vice mayor, respectively, in the 2016 elections.
Why is the billionaire businessman interested in this rustic town?
Quiambao is a native of Bayambang who graduated from the municipality’s public school system before becoming a rich businessman who made money out a lucrative contract with the Department of Transportation and Communication spanning more than a decade.
Junio and Councilor Uy belong to the Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC).
Junio is expected to go up against Camacho, wife of outgoing Mayor Ricardo Camacho and Councilor Charita Junio.
A Politiko source said that Camacho is aligning with the Liberal Party through its secretary general, Samar Rep. Mel Sarmiento.
Side from NPC, Junio is said to have the backing of Pangasinan 3rdDistrict Rep. Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas of LP and her daughter, former Rep. Rachel Arenas.
Quiambao filed corruption charges against Mayor Camacho with the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with alleged anomalous outdoor “ihawan” event in the Malangsi Festival of 2014 that landed Bayambang in the Guinness Book of Records for for having the longest grill at 8 kilometers.
