4-way race seen for Guv Vi’s seat in 2016. But will Ralph make it 5?

Jul 30, 2015 @ 1:59

At least four  contenders have emerged as serious contenders for the seat of three-term Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto.

A Politiko source said that the four are incumbent Vice Governor Mark Leviste, former Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Batangas Rep. Mark Llandro Mendoza and Agap Party-list Rep. Nicanor Briones.

Leviste feels that his time to rule Batangas has come but Mandanas, who has maintained his provincial political network, is confident of making a comeback.

Mendoza, the son of the late Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza, has expanded his volunteers to all districts of the province.

But Briones believes the biggest threat in the Batangas governor  race is Senator Ralph Recto who has not yet made up his mind if he was running for re-election.

“Sino ba naman ako para bumangga sa Recto?… pero, pinanghahawakan ko iyong nasabi niya (Recto) sa akin na for reelection sa 2016,” Briones reportedly intimated to his friends recently.
