This early, a former councilor in Angeles City, Pampanga who is eyeing the vice mayoralty post in the 2016 elections is confident he will win against his closest rival, incumbent councilor Bryan Nepomuceno.

Willie Rivera, a three-term member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, claimed a poll survey conducted by a people’s organization showed him ahead of Nepomuceno, son of former governor Robin Nepomuceno.

In that survey, Rivera said he won in 28 of the 33 barangays in the city.

Rivera said he is “humbled” by the “overwhelming support” of the people for his political plans.

“The message of the survey is very clear, people do appreciate the pro-poor programs we implemented during our time such as land to the landless, scholarship program for the youth, health programs for children and women, and many more,” he said.

Rivera pointed out that Angelenos are intelligent voters and will choose their next vice mayor based on track record, experience, competence, and his firm and strong stand against corruption.

Rivera is said to be the running mate of Senator Lito Lapid, who is reportedly planning to for mayor against incumbent mayor Ed Pamintuan.
