Romblon lawmaker indicted over fertilizer fund anomaly
Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona and seven others are facing graft charges over the alleged P5-million fertilizer fund scam in the province.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has ordered the filing of violation of Republic Act 3019 – Section (e) or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act against Madrona, provincial agriculturist Geishler Fadri; Ruby Fababeir, former provincial treasurer; Joel Angcaco Sy, former provincial administrator; Anthony Rugas, former head of General Services Office and presently 1st District board member; Oscar Galos, former senior provincial agriculturist, and one Richard Lozada and Elisa Morales.
The Ombudsman, on the other hand, dismissed the charges against Ranilo Fruelda, Oscar Vincent Ylagan Jr., and private respondents Deonilla Gregorio, Derek Glass, Hep Chef Kin, Andrew Sarinas, and Reginald Gregorio.
The complaint was filed by former Romblon vice mayor Lyndon Molino, according to reports from Romblon News Network.
In his complaint, Molino alleged the province received P5 million in 2004 for the purchase of fertilizer but was instead used to support the campaign of then president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
