Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto admitted receiving “feelers” to run as vice president under the ruling Liberal Party (LP).
Now on her third term, Santos stressed, however, that she has no political plans yet.
The governor was present during the unveiling of the inaugural marker of the Asian Productivity Office Production Unit Inc. high security printing plant and live demonstration of the new e-passport system at the LIMA Technology Center in Malvar, Batangas led by President Aquino.
In a report from Philippine Star, Santos said there were “feelers” asking her to reconsider running for higher office.
“Thank you for considering me,” she replied when asked if the President has asked her to run for vice president.
Santos is an LP member.
The actress-turned-governor said she doesn’t “entertain” those feelers because there was no formal invitation or discussion with the President yet.
Aquino is reportedly trying to persuade Senator Grace Poe to be the running mate of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, who is believed to be the party’s standard-bearer in the presidential elections next year.
But Poe is said to be eyeing a team-up with Sen. Francis Escudero.
