Cabuyao is home to young chess masters, says Mayor Mel Gecolea
The youth of Cabuyao are making waves in the world of chess.
In a Facebook post, Cabuyao Mayor Mel Gecolea proudly introduced young residents who made their mark in an international chess competition.
He said Jeremy Marticio, Jave Mareck Peteros, Robick Von Villa, and Jasper Faeldonia, who are all below 17 years old, won third place in the Asian Schools Chess Championship 2021 which was held online.
Jessie Marticio won first place in the under 15 category for girls.
All are students at the Pulo Integrated National High School.
The mayor said their achievement shows that the youth of Cabuyao are really talented.
He and the entire city are very proud of them!
“BIDA CABUYEÑO: Kilalanin natin ang mga batang Cabuyeño na may natatanging husay pagdating sa larangan ng sports na Chess.
Nakamit nina Jeremy Marticio, Jave Mareck Peteros, Robick Von Villa, at Jasper Faeldonia ang Ikatlong Pwesto (under 17 open) sa ginanap na Asian Schools Chess Championship 2021 na isinagawa online. Nakamit naman ni Jessie Marticio ang Unang Pwesto (under 15 girls). Ang mga mag-aaral na ito ay mula sa Pulo Integrated National High School.
Tunay nga na mahusay ang kabataang Cabuyeño sa anomang larangan. Ipinagmamalaki ko kayo at ng buong lungsod!
