Magbalik-loob na: DILG gives P5M to Batangas LGU for rebel returnees

Mar 2, 2019 @ 17:58

The Department of Interior and Local Government has given P5 million to the provincial government of Batangas to help former New People’s Army rebels live as productive citizens.

Governor Dodo Mandanas received the P5-million check from local DILG officials during the inauguration of the DILG-Batangas’ new office recently.

The money will be used to help former NPA rebels have access to livelihood options under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

Part of the fund will also be spent on the repair of the Livelihood Halfway House, where communist rebels who surrendered to the government can stay while they learn livelihood skills.

President Rodrigo Duterte has repeatedly urged NPA members to surrender, assuring them of assistance from the government for reintegration into society if they give up their arms.
