Acop seeks inclusion of SBMA, BCDA under BFP control
Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Romeo Acop is seeking to include the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) under the control of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The Rizal politiko, in a proposed measure, said the Philippine Economic Zone Authority or PEZA Law must be amended so that the SBMA and the BCDA will be compliant to the Fire Code.
The PEZA has insisted it has the sole power to enforce firefighting and fire containment in all PEZA-controlled areas.
Acop said this has become a problem because it has become unclear who is in charge of fire suppression and containment.
He cited the Resorts World attack in June last year wherein a lone gunman set the casino and hotel on fire.
Acop said the law is always above any agency’s implementing rules and regulations.#
