Trabaho muna: Cavite town bans mobile phone in city hall
The city has banned employees holding office in the city hall compound from using personal mobile phones during office hours.
In his memorandum issued on Friday, City Mayor Elpidio Barzaga, Jr. ordered city hall employees and other workers not to use their personal mobile phones during office hours effective Sept. 25.
The directive is “for everyone’s strict compliance” after the mayor received “numerous complaints stating that most of the city employees are using their mobile phones in accessing Facebook during office hours which is detrimental to public service.”
Employees and medical staff are advised to surrender their mobile phones to their Department Heads, and are only allowed to use/access it during lunch break.
In case of emergencies, however, the employees are directed to inform their spouses, children or nearest of kin to call the city hall trunkline (+6346.481.4600) or mobile numbers (+63917.862.0854 and +63998.9685819), the City Mayor’s (+63917.501.0566) or the City Administrator’s (+63917.418.1308) mobile numbers.
The directive also impose disciplinary action on violators such as suspension or dismissal subject to the rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission . (Philippine News Agency)
