Mayor Chua, 10 others charged with syndicated estafa

Dec 8, 2016 @ 18:24

Noveleta, Cavite Mayor Dino Carlo Chua, his cousin former Buhay partylist Representative Willian Irwin Tieng and several others have been accused of syndicated estafa for duping the owner of Skyjet airlines in letting go of his company without just compensation.

Former SkyJet airlines owner Aneceto Mendoza filed on Thursday (December 8) filed the criminal complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ) after being kicked out from his company in 2015 without receiving any payment for the shares he was tricked into selling.

Also named as respondents in the complaint were Irwin’s father, Solar Entertainment Corporation vice chair William Tieng; his siblings Ronald, John Eric, Charlene, Mark Andrew, Margaret Ann and James Gregory; lawyer Brigido Theodore Sarmiento; and associate George Ventayen.

“Indisputably, respondents conspired and confederated with one another in defrauding me of my shareholdings in SkyJet,” read the complaint.

Mendoza recounted that SkyJet fell on hard times and had to look for investors.

Although William offered P100 million for 50 percent of his shares, Mendoza said he was duped into signing deeds of absolute sale of 60 percent to Tieng for P1 million and 20 percent to Chua for P300,000.

Mendoza said he never even appeared before the notary after being assured by the respondents that the sale was just for “show.”

Mendoza was not even allowed to have a lawyer to speed up negotiations.

Even after he was forced out, Mendoza did not receive the P1.3 million from Tieng and Chua.
