Anybody but himself: Espino blames Braganza and Cojuangco for his ‘nightmare‎’

Sep 12, 2016 @ 10:31

A Hold Departure Oder, out on bail after being issued a warrant of arrest and facing suspension from the House of Representatives.

Pangasinan Rep. Amado Espino Jr. is blaming his political rivals for bringing on this nightmare he is going through.

Espino said in a press statement that former Alaminos City Mayor Hernani A. Braganza and former 5th District Rep. Mark O. Cojuangco were the ones responsible for the graft cases he is now facing at the Sandiganbayan.

Espino said that Braganza instigated the filing of the graft case with the Ombudsman.
“As for this instant case of alleged blacksand mining, the complainants themselves have admitted that it was also upon instance of then LP gubernatorial bet Nani Braganza that they filed the case before the Ombudsman in late 2012,”
Espino said that Cojuangco pursued the graft case to a higher level.

“In the run up to the elections in May 2016, the same case was pursued with even more vigor and vicious media projection after former congressman Mark Cojuangco announced in February 2014 that he was running for governor,” Espino said.

Sandiganbayan 6th Division earlier found sufficient grounds to hold Espino on trial and ordered his arrest in June.

“After going over the Information in this case and evaluating the Joint Resolution dated 28 February 2014 of the Office of the Ombudsman, the evidence in support thereof, and the records of the preliminary investigation attached thereto, the Court finds that sufficient grounds exist for the finding of probable cause and for the issuance of warrants of arrest against accused-movants and the rest of the accused,” the Sixth Division said in its ruling.

Espino immediately posted bail for two counts of graft for the illegal extraction and trade of black sand.

The Sandiganbayan 6th Division in March of this year initially issued a Hold Departure Order against Espino and 13 other individuals in connection with their graft case.

Espino is also included with Senator Leila De Lima in the drug matrix bared by President Rodrigo Duterte.
