Wala daw kasalanan: Ex-solon Valencia pleads ‘not guilty’ in pork scam
Former Oriental Mindoro Representative Rodolfo Valencia has pleaded not guilty to three counts of graft and three counts of malversation over his alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.
Valencia entered the pleas during his arraignment on September 6, 2016 before the Sandiganbayan Seventh Division.
During the proceeding, Valencia insisted that all of his signatures on the documents being used as evidence against him have been forged.
His four co-accused also entered “not guilty” pleas during the proceeding. They are former Budget undersecretary Mario Relampagos and his former staff members Rosario Nunez, Marilou Bare and Lalaine Paule.
Meanwhile, the Seventh Division has set the pre-trial of the cases on November 8, when the parties are expected to formally submit their list of witnesses and evidence that they intend to present during the trial.
Valencia is accused of having received kickbacks from pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles in exchange for choosing her Masaganang Ani Para sa Magsasaka Foundation Inc. (MAMFI) to implement projects funded by his Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF).
He was able to release a total of P6.5 million of his PDAF to MAMFI from 2008 to 2009. However, the projects were allegedly non-existent.
