The provincial health office named five towns as healthiest on the basis of having the least number of cases of malnutrition among children.
Dr. Ana De Guzman chief of the Pangasinan Provincial Health Office said said that they conducted the weighing of the children in the first quarter and validated the findings in the second quarter of the year.
“Kasama po natin ang mga barangay nutrition scholars sa ating buong probinsya at sila po ay nag titimbang sa unang taon… mga unang buwan ng taon at ito po ay ivina-validate on the second quarter,” she said in a television interview.
According to the PPHO, the five healthiest municipalities are San Jacinto, Santa Maria, Sual, Infanta and Basista for having registered the lowest cases of malnutrition among children.
De Guzman said that cases of malnutrition for Pangasinan went down to 1.74% in 2016 from 2.47% in 2015.
The percentage decrease is about 5,000 children who were no longer considered malnourished.
