They’re gonna knock on your door: Police intensifying anti-drug drive in Bicol barangays
They’re gonna knock on your door, ring on your bell, tap on your window too: Expect police in Bicol to level up their barangay-based anti-drug campaign in the next few days.
In Daet, police are intensifying their “Oplan Katok” by urging drug dealers to surrender and start a new life, state-run Philippine Information Agency reported.
Under Oplan Katok, police and barangay officials will visit houses of suspected drug dealers and users and urge them to stop their bad habit.
Daet police head Superintendent Wilmor Halamani said they will work closely with barangay officials for “Oplan Tokhang” or “Oplan Katok.”
Halamani added they will help the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council prevent the drug trade.
But Halamani also reiterated they will not hesitate to react accordingly if the suspects resist.
The PIA cited figures from the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office showing 137 suspected users and pushers had surrendered since last week.
Meanwhile, Governor Edgardo Tallado and Daet Mayor Benito Ochoa offered scholarships and livelihood assistance to those who want to kick the drug habit.
