Ex-Generals get slayed by lady politikos in Pangasinan
Two battle-scarred, retired generals, a military general and a police general, lost their respective wars against women politikos in Pangasinan.
In the eastern municipality of San Nicolas, General Romeo Prestoza’s experience in the field and as chief of the Presidential Security Group was not enough to defeat re-election Mayor Rebecca Saldivar.
Saldivar of the Nationalist Peoples Coalition got 10,614 votes as she beat Prestoza of Aksyon Demokratiko who had 8,603 votes.
Saldivar won against former vice mayor Ian Bravo and Raymond Prestoza in the 2013 elections for her first term.
In the western municipality of Bani, retired Police General Marcelo Navarro Jr. of the Liberal Party lost to incumbent Mayor Gwen Yamamoto of the Nationalist Peoples Coalition.
Mayor Yamamoto’s 12,205 votes beat Navarro’s 9,713 votes.
Yamamoto, then councilor, became mayor when she won against then mayor Navarro in the 2013 elections.
