Bicolano LP stalwarts shrug off Salceda’s exit: Pabigat naman siya eh!
So what if Albay Governor Joey Salceda is now a part of Senator Grace Poe’s “Gobyernong May Puso?”
Liberal Party stalwarts in the Bicol Region led by Albay Rep. Edcel “Grex” Lagman have downplayed Salceda’s decision to bolt from the administration, saying they had always known of his propensity to jump ship.
Despite being LP’s chair in the Bicol region, Lagman believes Salceda’s loss is no big blow for the party because he’s not an asset.
“Salceda was a burden anyway with his dubious integrity and patent disloyalty. The LP leadership in Albay will do better without Salceda on board,” he said.
Lagman said he had a hunch as early as October last year that the governor would eventually abandon the administration coalition— an inkling that was rooted in the fact that Salceda also left Lakas-CMD and then-administration standard bearer Gilbert Teodoro to join the LP.
“LP stalwarts in Albay were not surprised with Salceda’s patent disloyalty even as they reiterated that LP candidates and partymates in the province stood firm on their support for Mar-Leni,” he said, referring to the tandem of LP bets Mar Roxas and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo.
