Strange bedfellows: ‎ Rivals Braganza, Espino together in Alaminos City

Jan 27, 2016 @ 11:48

They were bitter political rivals for Pangasinan governor in 2013. Now, they are on the same side of the fence for the 2016 elections.

Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. and former Alaminos City mayor Hernani Braganza made their first public appearance together at the Partido Liberal Alaminos Coalition’s New Year Party.

Espino formerly with the Nationalist Peoples Alliance thumped Braganza of the Liberal Party for governor in the 2013 elections.

During the 2013 elections, Espino called Braganza as ‘bakes’ (monkey) whom he alleged to be behind the legal actions to derail his guibernatorial bid.

He said that Braganza was behind the filing of charges at the Ombudsman against him for illegal black sand mining in Lingayen.

The Ombudsman indicted Espino and 13 others for engaging in illegal black sand mining and trade in the Lingayen Gulf area which resulted in the dismissal from office of provincial administrator Rafael Baraan and Provincial Housing and Development Coordinating Officer Alvin Bigay.

President Aquino once ordered the Interior and Local Governments Secretary Mar Roxas to investigate Espino’s jueteng involvement that led Bugallon Mayor Rodrigo Orduna and self confessed jueteng operator Fernando ‘Boy Bata’ Alimagno to file a plunder complaint against the governor.

Espino now with Aksyon Demokratiko and Braganza have joined forces to push for the presidential bid of Mar Roxas.
