Benguet politiko blames accidents to lack of traffic signs
A provincial legislator in Benguet said the lack of traffic signs along the major highways is partly to blame for the rising number of vehicular accidents that have claimed many lives in the province.
Board member Florence Tingbaoen is calling on the provincial board to present to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Benguet the resolution it approved last week calling on the agency to immediately address the matter.
The resolution called on the DPWH to install additional signage along Halsema Highway, Naguilian Road, and Benguet-Nueva Ecija Highway.According to Tingbaoen, many motorists and residents in the area have been clamoring for the installation of traffic safety signs.
Aside from traffic signs, the board member also urged DPWH to paint the center of the roads to guide motorists.
She stressed this is crucial for motorists at night time and rainy season when visibility is poor.
