Actor Gary Estrada is aspiring for a higher post in Quezon province in the 2016 elections.
The 44-year-old TV and movie star has filed his candidacy for vice governor on Thursday, December 10, as candidate of Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP).
Estrada substituted for one Marco Antonio Lirag, according to an ABS CBN report.
Estrada, however, faces a tough rival in the person of incumbent vice governor Samuel Nantes of the Liberal Party (LP). A third candidate, Anacleto Alcala of the National Unity Party (NUP), is also running for the same post.
The actor-turned-politician was elected board member in the 2nd District in 2010. He is presently on his second term.
Born Gary Jason B. Ejercito on May 16, 1971, Estrada is a son of late actor George Estregan. He is the half-brother of former Laguna Gov. Emilio Ramon “ER” Ejercito.
