Arroyo feeling Kapampangan’s love with easy win at polls
Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo thanked her kababayans in Pampanga for practically handing her third and final term as a congresswoman on a silver platter after no one dared challenge her for the post in the May 2016 elections.
In a status message posted by her staff, the detained Arroyo said: “Thank you for the love and support.” Citing the Commission on Elections’ data, the lawmaker said no other person filed a certificate of candidacy to run for representative of Pampanga’s second district until the deadline last Friday (Oct. 16).
The statement carried the lawmaker’s declaration that she was “feeling loved.”
Arroyo has been detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) since 2012 in connection with her alleged misuse of the state lottery’s intelligence funds.
Despite being under hospital arrest, the former President handily won her second term in 2013 against three politikos, including a candidate who ran under the Liberal Party.
