Ruffy Biazon to return to Congress but what about daddy ‘Pong’?
Former Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon is eyeing a comeback as representative of the lone district of Muntinlupa City.
This as his father, former senator and incumbent Muntinlupa Rep. Rodolfo “Pong” Biazon is reportedly being pushed to run for a Senate seat again.
As early as 2013, Ruffy has been expressing his desire to return to Congress, where he served from 2001 to 2010.
In the 2010 elections, he was part of the Liberal Party’s (LP) senatorial lineup, only to place 14th in the final tally of votes.
President Aquino later appointed him to the Bureau of Customs (BOC). He later resigned after being implicated in the pork barrel scam.
The elder Biazon, on the other hand, was earlier reported to be one of the candidates that would compose the LP senatorial ticket.
But he turned down the offer, according to Marikina City Rep. Miro Quimbo, spokesperson for the administration-backed Daang Matuwid Coalition.
Biazon was senator from 1992 to 1995, and from 1998 to 2010. He ran and got elected as Muntinlupa representative in 2010.
He has another three-year term in Congress.
