Sep 15, 2015 @ 5:35

Basketball coach-turned-Pampanga 1st District Rep. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao’s coaching skills will surely be put to test as he pledged to gather all stakeholders in the controversial Capilion project.

Guiao offered to be the mediator in the ensuing conflict with the Clark Development Corp. (CDC), Angeles City officials, and local businessmen concerning the P7-billion project at the Clark Freeport Zone.

Earlier, he vowed to bring the issue to Congress but at present, he seems to have changed his mind.

“I will attempt na all stakeholders, CDC, CIAC (Clark International Airport Corporation, Tang Perto (Cruz), media, the council (Angeles City council), let us all get together,” Guiao said in a Sunstar article.

“If we bring this to Congress at doon lahat tayo maglabo-labo, it is not productive for Clark,” he pointed out.

The lawmaker said he will ask the CDC to present the project to all stakeholders to address the issues being raised against it.

“Let’s have a complete presentation and bring out all the issues, if they can correct them and convince us,” he said.

The Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM), headed by businessman Ruperto Cruz, asked Guiao to initiate an inquiry after CDC failed to answer several questions raised by the group.

The PGKM and some officials of Angeles City are opposing the location of the project saying it will aggravate the traffic problem in the city’s commercial district of Barangay Balibago.

The city council also passed a resolution opposing the project on grounds it will harm small and medium businesses in Barangays Malabanias and Balibago.
