Aurora judge shot dead in ambush

Sep 1, 2015 @ 23:52

A regional trial court judge was gunned down in Baler town in Aurora in an ambush near the Baler Regional Trial Court on Tuesday afternoon, September 1.

Radio reports late Tuesday identified the victim as Baler judge Erwin Alaba, who was shot while inside his sport-utility vehicle.

The judge’s wife Margarita was wounded in the left arm.

The Supreme Court called on police to investigate the motive behind the killing and to bring the suspects to justice.

Court administrator Jose Midas Marquez is to head for Baler Wednesday to investigate the incident.

Initial investigation showed a motorcycle-riding assailant gunned down Alaba with a shot to the chest.

Last year, Alaba acquitted a detained New People’s Army leader of charges of multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder.
