Extortion in El Nido? Exec seeks police help

A member of the provincial board of Palawanv is asking the local police to investigate the alleged rampant extortion activities of unscrupulous individuals targeting business owners in the resort town of El Nido.

1st District board member Roseller Pineda said he has received reports of these mulcting activities, and they were “alarming”.

Pineda said that according to reports, several businessmen in El Nido had received letters asking money from them, and that if they failed, they were threatened that something bad would happen to their businesses.

He added that these letters could not be ignored because the anxiety and fear of business owners in El Nido are real.

In a Philippine News Agency (PNA) report, Pineda has filed a resolution urging the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to direct the provincial police to investigate the matter and arrest the extortionists.
