Firecrackers still banned in Baguio – Mayor Domogan
Sorry, firecrackers are still banned in Baguio City this coming Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan remained firm in his stand to prohibit the sale and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics in the city.
Domogan has met with local vendors who requested that they be allowed to sell firecrackers during the Christmas season.
The mayor flatly denied their appeal.
“Kayong mga kapatid namin na gustong magbenta, alam niyo naman na ayaw natin niyan,” Domogan was quoted by Sunstar as saying.
“We should learn how to observe celebrations by other means na hindi naman harmful sa atin,” he added.
Since 2013, Domogan has banned firecrackers in the city to prevent firecracker-related injuries during Christmas and New Year’s eve revelries.
The mayor appealed to the city council to draft an ordinance that will make the firecrackers ban official.
