Abra Guv Bersamin makes ‘dream’ come true
With less than a year in office, outgoing Abra Gov. Eustaquio Bersamin has made his dream come true: a modern sports complex in the province’s capital of Bangued.
Bersamin has led the groundbreaking ceremony for a P150-million sports and commercial complex that he hopes will attract the most important sports and crowd-drawing events.
“This is a dream come true,” Bersamin was quoted by Manila Bulletin as saying.
“Since I entered politics in 2007, this has been my dream – to see the accomplishment of this modern sports facility before my term ends,” he added.
The Abra Sports Complex and Commercial Center will be built in a 3.4-hectare lot. It will be the home of the sporting events of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA).
Bersamin said the three Abra students who brought home gold medals in the recent CARAA meet in Baguio City were his “inspiration” in pursuing with the plan he had dreamed of having for his province mates.
One of the students was Shane Bergonia of La Paz town who won a gold medal in the 100-meter relay freestyle swimming.
“When this facility is finished, many of athletes like Shane will have an Olympic-size pool to train in,” the governor said.
The project will be funded by a loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines
