Todo na ‘to: Guv Joey going ‘full time’ for Roxas campaign.
Albay Gov. Joey Salceda will work “full time” to ensure that Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas wins it all in 2016.
Based ona report by Philippine News Agency, the three-term governor said that he has no interest in running for Congress next year because he felt working in congress would be a “limited task” for him. Salceda served as Albay solon for three terms before he won as governor in 2007.
Salceda said Roxas tapped him personally and he accepted because he believed “Mar has the intellectual handle to steer the country to a socially expansive economy, broaden the middle class and empower the lower income classes, which is a primordial challenge to the next President.”
“Well, for me, it is better than yielding to suggestions to run for a national office. It’s a vicarious way of almost running nationally,” Salceda said.
He said the biggest challenge for the next president was how to make the economy more socially expansive broaden the middle class, and reduce the vulnerable poor from 11.4 million disadvantaged families at present (4.2 million poor + 7.2 million near-poor), down by half to 5.7 million.
“Roxas commitment to clean government has been tested by a rent-seeking political economy and he has clearly and consistently demonstrated this commitment since he entered public service in 1994 when he replaced his brother,” Salceda said.
