People don’t like me anymore’ ex-Pampanga VM
After failing to win twice in 2010 and 2013 elections, former Masantol, Pampanga vice mayor Marcelo “Bajun” Lacap has decided to call it quits.
“At the back of my mind, I want to seek election next year because I still want to serve, but I guess the people does (sic) not like me anymore,” the veteran politician was quoted by Sunstar as saying.
Lacap said he now wants to focus his attention to his family after having been in the politics at the age of 24.
He was a village chairman from 1989 to 1998, municipal councilor from 1998 to 2001, and vice mayor from 2001 to 2004 and 2007 to 2010.
He ran for mayor in 2010 elections under the Liberal Party but failed to win.
In 2013, he tried his luck again and ran for vice mayor of Masantol but also lost.
Lacap pointed out that he can serve the people even outside politics. He said that he had already done enough and does not want to spend the rest of his life in politics.
“I just want to rest for now and have time for my children,” he stressed, adding he doesn’t want his children to enter politics someday.
“They can’t go on politics as long as I’m alive, I don’t want them to experience being on politics,” he said.
