Quezon mayor faces raps for faking SALN
Mulanay, Quezon Mayor Joselito Ojeda has been sued before the Ombudsman for allegedly submitting falsified Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
The Office of the Ombudsman for Luzon has given Ojeda until August 16 to answer the charges of dishonesty, violation of Code of Conduct and Ethical Standard for Public Officials and Employees, and Civil Service Decree filed by one Crispin Burgos Bariata.
In a Manila Times story, Bariata accused Ojeda of submitting false SALNs from 2010 to 2014. He claimed that Ojeda’s SALN put his net worth only at around P15 million as of 2013.
Bariata claimed that Ojeda has other properties under his name, including mansions, condominium units, prime lots in exclusive subdivisions, top-of-the-line vehicles, radio stations and other properties, including the new 5-storey twin towers in Tayabas City.
In a motion he filed before the Ombudsman, the second-termer Ojeda sought for more time to submit his counter-affidavit.
