A municipal councilor of a small town in Benguet is soliciting P2.5 million from Sen. Pia Cayetano for the completion of the town’s community gym.

Through a resolution approved by the Itogon municipal council, Councilor Alexander Fianza requested Cayetano to fund the sports gym presently being built in Barangay Tinongdan.

Mount Ugo in Tinongdan was the venue of the first “Pilipinas Akyathlon: The Philippine International Skyrace” which were participated in by a hundred local and foreign runners.

Cayetano, a known triathlete and sports enthusiast, was among the race finishers.

Fianza said the senator’s help is a boost to the municipal government’s sports program for the youth.

A copy of the municipal resolution will be sent to the senator, he added.

During her stay in Itogon, Cayetano urged community leaders to form groups that will advocate the protection of women and the environment.

The senator also led medical missions in Bokod town and a breastfeeding advocacy seminar and a forum on Anti-Violence Against Women and Children for residents of Barangay Bobok.
